Laura's Diary - August 21st, 2008

Dear Diary,

I'm all set for the big party. I dug up a dress that I wore to one of our Boot Camp excursions 4 years ago. Evan was just six weeks old, I remember, because I was still breast feeding. I noticed that the top had very faint stains on the boobs. It made me kinda sad….the last remaining signs of my breast feeding days. I got over it quickly and ran that thing down to the dry cleaners so it'll be ready for tomorrow night.

I'm busting out black boots with the dress. It's kinda short, so Linda told me I'd look slutty if I wore high heels with it. But, what if I wanna look slutty? She assured me that I wouldn't wanna do that. Dangit.

Okay, so I took back the dress I bought at Nordies, really proud of myself that I was saving all this money wearing things I already had. But, noooooooooooo, the shopping demon came out and MADE me pick out sandals and some Ed Hardy sweatpants in exchange. I ended up spending an extra 10 bucks. I once made a promise to myself that I would never again wear bottoms that have words printed on the butt. I used to have a bunch of "PINK" sweats and one pair with "BCBG" across the butt. I always felt kinda stupid walking around in those things. So, how am I gonna feel walking around with "Ed Hardy" scrawled across my rear end? I'll soon find out.

I'm picking up Char from Chess Camp today, then I told him we'd go to Sleep Train to finally get him a new mattress before school starts. That's Monday. It seems like only 2 years ago that summer started…dang!!! Ha ha. I wish I could take him to his first day of third grade on Monday. That is one of the few things I dislike about my job. Sure, I can volunteer during lunch and recess and I can pick them up everyday of the year. That is all great! It's the getting up with them and taking them to school that I miss a lot.

This morning when I went to kiss Ev before I left, she sat up and hugged me and whispered…"Where have you been?"

"I'm going to work, baby girl."

"I love you so so so so so so so so much. I want to sleep in your bed."

So I carried her to my bed, then left. She was really clingy yesterday. She had to let me know what she was doing and what she was changing into and where she was going and what she was eating every second of last night. When I settled on my bed for a little break, she came in carrying two purses full of stuff and stated that it was time for our meeting.

"We need to have a meeting, Laura Cain." Then she proceeded to take out her pens and heart-shaped pad of paper for note-taking purposes. My part in the meeting was to draw a horse so she could color it. It was a good meeting.

Gotta show you her first costume change of the day yesterday…

See you tomorrow, Diary.
